Our Commitment

5%

of all profit returns to Calgary's green spaces

Every project we complete helps fund native tree planting, habitat restoration, and community garden initiatives across the city.

#BeautifyYYC

Calgary has lost over 30% of its urban canopy. We're working to reverse that through native plantings, ecological design, and community partnerships.

Stone & Bark — Landscape Design

Spaces that
breathe,
grow & live

We design landscapes rooted in ecology — native canopy, layered planting, and outdoor spaces that genuinely extend how you live. No cookie-cutter installations. Every project begins with the land itself.

Native retention
We preserve existing trees and plants wherever possible, keeping the ecological memory of your land intact.
More time outdoors
Clients report spending significantly more time in their gardens after our transformations.
Seasonal stewardship
Our designs evolve beautifully through the seasons, offering something new to discover year-round.

A useful space cannot be made today
It needs time to fill with life

Our philosophy

Landscapes to bring people out
Landscapes that make you feel the harmony

Most landscapes are designed to be looked at. We design landscapes to be lived in — reimagining the threshold between inside and out to create spaces with shade to sit under, paths that invite wandering, and plants that bring birds, insects, and seasonal rhythm into daily life.

Our approach begins with what already belongs to the land. Native trees, indigenous grasses, and regionally adapted perennials form the backbone of every design — requiring less water, supporting local biodiversity, and deepening in beauty year over year.

What we design
& build

From full-site landscape architecture to intimate garden transformations, every engagement is conceived for your land, your climate zone, and how you actually want to use your outdoor space.

Growing the canopy.
Growing the community.

Urban tree canopy is one of the most powerful tools we have against heat, flooding, and biodiversity loss. We plant with permanence in mind — selecting native species suited to local soils and climate that will provide shade, habitat, and cooling within a decade.

Every design specifies the right tree for the right place: root zones, fall habit, wildlife value, and mature scale all considered from day one. We don't install fast-growing fillers. We plant with generational intent.

How a project
takes root

Our process moves from listening to clients, to expert site analysis, and finally to installation. We work with a small number of clients each season to ensure every project receives the time and thought it deserves.

01

Site

We begin by walking your land — understanding soil, light, existing plants, and how you live. What draws you outside, what keeps you in.

02

Design

A design document: planting palette, layout, materials, and phasing. We iterate with you until it feels exactly right.

03

Installation

Our own crews install to our design standards — no sub-contractors who don't know the plan. Every plant placed exactly where it will thrive.

04

Care

The first two years are critical. Seasonal care plans nurture new plantings through establishment to full maturity.

"To build spaces that connect us to nature, the best time to start is now."
